Courthouse Tour
San Diego Superior Court
This is a great opportunity to get a first hand look at our legal system!
The itinerary will include a tour of the courthouse with some interesting facts about our courthouse and how the court works. In addition to the tour, students will be treated to a mock trial in an empty courtroom in which students are allowed to participate in active parts of this mock trial.
There are 2 tours booked for our group:
Wednesday, April 3rd, 9:30 to 12 noon. This tour is for 5th and 6th graders and possibly some 7th graders: In addition to the above itinerary, students will be treated to a question and answer time with a deputy sheriff and view a holding cell in the courthouse.
Thursday, April 4th, 9:00 to 12 noon. This tour is for 7th through 12th grades: In addition to the above itinerary, students will be led into a real ongoing trial to observe the proceedings. Based on availability, the judge may answer questions at the end of the tour.
Since the numbers for each tour are highly limited, parents should expect to bring 3 students with them in order to be allowed to join the tour. This saves space for other deserving students who would like this opportunity. Our minimum number of students per tour is 20 and the maximum number of total participants is 35.
We highly recommend that you recruit additional students to accompany you in order to be allowed entrance to this activity!
