Star of India Living History Experience
Pre Revolutionary War Times
Set sail on the eve of the American Revolution! Relive the turbulent year of 1774, experiencing the struggle of merchant mariners sailing the triangle trade route between New England and the Caribbean. Students will navigate their way through the political storms of the era, facing the same frustrations that inspired American colonists to revolt. Ultimately, they will choose their own destiny and find out what role they will play in the war for America’s freedom.
This is an immersive and interactive experience in which docents are dressed in period garb and stay in character for the entire experience. It is an 18 hour experience and includes an overnight stay aboard the historical Star of India ship and includes dinner and breakfast. This program is geared to 5th graders, but is open to younger mature students and older students who love a sense of adventure and are willing to actively participate.
It is a field trip option that is more expensive than most, but it is a rare opportunity to get the feeling of living on a ship during the 1770's! While the Maritime Museum typically restricts the number of chaperones, we are able to offer more spots for adults than the norm to accommodate the needs of the our homeschool families.
DATE: February, 2027, exact date TBD
COST: Approximately $100 per participant, details to be provided later
