Gem Kids for grades 4-6
GemTrip by GemKids is a 2-hour program that brings gemology to life, inspiring students to learn more about natural world as well as careers in science, gems, and jewelry. Under the guidance of a GIA gem coach, students can grasp the marvels of geology firsthand examining gems, minerals, and jewelry using a microscope, pen lights, and more to uncover the wonders of Earth Science. During the session, students learn about the rock cycle, minerals, and gems, after which they get to explore over 100 different specimens while filling out their field guide. Students will also take a tour of GIA's vibrant museum and take home a fun souvenir to remember their GemTrip.
Sorry, parents of Gem Kids who are not accompanying their student in the class room will need to leave the premises and only return at the close of the program.
Tour of the School and Museum, learn about Gemology and careers and training for that field, grades 7 - 12
Students will be introduced to the world of gemology, jewelry, and related career paths. They will have an intro into gemology presentation and have the opportunity to look at specimens under microscope. At the end of the demonstration, students will hear a short presentation about the different education offerings and career services.
All accompanying adults must have a government-issued photo ID or passport for entry.
Cost: $6 per family reservation fee
